Independent local reporting for Anchorage and Alaska since 1992 — and, since 2026, the new home of Northern Journal's investigative desk.
Anchorage Press is an independent local publication covering news, arts, culture, food, music, opinion, events, and community life in Anchorage and across Alaska.
In 2026, the Press absorbed the reporting team and archive of the Northern Journal, whose investigative work on land, water, energy, and government continues under the Northern Journal Investigations Desk.
We publish online every day and in print every month, distributed free at more than 200 racks across Southcentral Alaska. We are supported by readers, members, local advertisers, and the occasional grant. We do not answer to a hedge fund.
